Work with Station Options

When you create a view in Inline, you can configure station options—The ArcGIS geometry and map services used to provide the station values. There are a few methods of configuring the station options:

Configure Station Options

To configure the station options using the service configured in the map options

This tutorial assumes you have already configured the map options.

  1. Click Station Options in the General View Options panel.

  2. Enable Use Station Values.

  3. Select the Layer to use from the service.

  4. Configure the station options:

    • Unique ID Field: Defaults to OBJECTID if that field name exists. Contains the unique IDs of the station values.

    • Route ID Field: Select the field that ensures the station values are shown for the selected route. The values from this field must match those of the Centerline Unique ID Field configured in your map options.

    • Begin Measure Field: Select the field that contains the begin measure information.

    • Begin Station Field: Select the field that contains the begin station information.

      This field must be different than the Begin Measure Field.

    • Series Order Field (Optional): Select the field that determines the order of the segments along the route.

    • Segment Name Field: Select the field that contains the segment names.

    • End Measure Field: Select the field that contains the end measure information.

    • End Station Field: Select the field that contains the end station information.

      This field must be different than the End Measure Field.

  5. Click Apply.

To configure the station options using a new service

  1. Click Station Options in the General View Options panel.

  2. Enable Use Station Values.

  3. Enable Use Alternate Map Service.

  4. Enter the Map Service URL and click Validate

  5. Select the Layer to use from the service.

  6. Configure the station options:

    • Unique ID Field: Defaults to OBJECTID if that field name exists. Contains the unique IDs of the station values.

    • Route ID Field: Select the field that ensures the station values are shown for the selected route. The values from this field must match those of the Centerline Unique ID Field configured in your map options.

    • Begin Measure Field: Select the field that contains the begin measure information.

    • Begin Station Field: Select the field that contains the begin station information.

      This field must be different than the Begin Measure Field.

    • Series Order Field (Optional): Select the field that determines the order of the segments along the route.

    • Segment Name Field: Select the field that contains the segment names.

  7. Click Apply.

To import the station values from an existing view

  1. Click Station Options in the General View Options panel.

  2. Enable Use Station Values.

  3. Select Import Station Options to import your configuration.

  4. In the Import dialog, select the view you wish to use and then click Open.

  5. Check to ensure the correct fields have been set for all the properties, and then click Apply.

Configure How Station Values Appear

To show the station name on the map

This tutorial assumes you have configured station values for the view.

  1. Click Viewer Settings in the General View Options panel.
  2. Enable Show Station Name on Map.
  3. Click Apply.

Show the station name in the X-axis tooltip

  1. Open the General View Options.

  2. Set the X-Axis Tooltip Style to one of the station options.
