Geocortex Essentials Manager

Geocortex Essentials ships with Geocortex Essentials Manager, a web-based application that you use to create and manage Geocortex Essentials sites and viewers.

Geocortex Essentials Manager uses cookies. To use Manager, cookies must be enabled in your web browser. For a list of supported browsers, see Geocortex Essentials Manager Requirements.

If you attempt to sign in to Manager from a host that is not registered with Essentials, you are denied access. You must register the hosts that communications are routed through. For instructions, see Hosts.

To run Geocortex Essentials Manager, you require a user name and password. The type of account that you use to sign in to Manager depends on the sign-in method that is configured in the Post Installer. There are three sign-in methods:

If you have not already chosen a sign-in method, choose a method to sign in to Manager. Be sure to read about the implications of the sign-in method that you choose.

Manager is in US English (en-US) by default. You can localize Manager using the Geocortex Language Tool.

Do not edit a site in more than one location at one time or you will lose some of your changes. For example, do not edit a site in two different browsers or browser tabs at one time. Similarly, do not edit a site's configuration file manually at the same time that you edit the site in Manager—always close one before you open the other.

Do not edit a site while modifying its underlying map services with, for example, ArcGIS software, as this may lead to unexpected results. For more information, see Map Service Changes.

Launch Manager and Sign In

To launch Manager and sign in:

  1. Launch the Geocortex Essentials Manager application on your computer.

  2. If you are prompted to sign in, enter your user name and password, and then click Sign In.

    Depending on how Essentials is configured in the Post Installer, you either sign in using an ArcGIS account or a Windows account.

    If you attempt to sign in to Manager from a host that is not registered with Essentials, you are denied access. You must register the hosts that communications are routed through. For instructions, see Hosts.

    When you are signed in, the user icon appears in the banner. You can click the user icon to see the identity of the current user.

    The first time you sign in to Manager, it opens to the Site List, the list of your configured sites.

Sign Out of Manager

To sign out of Manager:

  1. Click the down arrow beside the user icon in the banner.

  2. Click Sign Out.

    You are signed out immediately.
