Troubleshoot Analytics

There are multiple pages of Content Panels for each resource in Analytics. How do you go about finding answers to questions you may have about your GIS system? In the section below, you will find suggestions about where to go in Analytics to find answers to critical questions.

Summary

A high-level view of all the current alarms on the system.

A chart of successful and unsuccessful probes in the previous 24 hours.

A chart of active visitors in the previous 24 hours.

To get a sense of the overall health of your GIS system.

You can use each Alarms block as a jump-off point to go directly to those alarms and investigate them.

The Probes chart can indicate if there has been a sudden rise in unsuccessful Probes in the last 24 hours.

You can use the Active Visitors chart to see if there has been a surge in usage in the last 24 hours.

Status | System | Active Alarms

A list of the alarms active on the whole system, including when it was fired, the name of the alarm and the condition that caused it to fire.

To identify which parts of your system have currently triggered multiple alarms. You can then focus troubleshooting on those resources.

Status | System | Server Alarms

A list of detailed alarm information about every server.

Each Server name in the Name column is a link to more alarm information about each specific server, including alarms on the resources installed on that server like Essentials or Portal for ArcGIS.

Memory and Disk Space usage on each server.

To see a list of servers with active alarms in the previous 24 hours.

To click the Server Name link in the Name column and dig deeper into the alarms on each server, including any Essentials Instance or Portal for ArcGIS alarms on that server.

Status | System | Portal

A list of detailed alarm information about ArcGIS Online and Portal for ArcGIS.

Each instance of a portal in the Name column is a link to more alarm information about each portal installation, including alarms on the content like services and maps on that portal.

To determine which portal may be having an issue.

To click the Portal Name link in the Name column and dig deeper into the alarms on each particular portal, including any content alarms.

Status | System | ArcGIS Server

A list of detailed alarm information about ArcGIS Server instances.

Each instance of an ArcGIS Server in the Name column is a link to more alarm information about each ArcGIS Server instance, including a detailed list of Services Alarms.

To click the ArcGIS Server Name link in the Name column and dig deeper into the alarms on each particular ArcGIS Server instance, including Services alarms for services on this ArcGIS Server.

Status | System | Essentials Instance Alarms

A list of all the alarms fired by Essentials instances, including the sites, viewers, workflows, reports, and print templates.

Each instance of Essentials in the Name column is a link to more detailed information about this Essentials instance.

To see if any of the Essentials instances are broken.

To click the Essentials instance name link in the Name column and dig deeper into the alarms on each particular Essentials instance, including a summary of Site information, Resources, and Viewers.

A list of all the alarms fired by applications.

Each application in the Name column is a link to more detailed information about this application.

 

To see if any of the applications are broken.

To click the application name link in the Name column and dig deeper into the alarms on each particular application, including referenced service alarms.

To find out when and what kind of errors this Essentials instance may have had in the time period.

Details about errors logged by ArcGIS Server instances in the time period.

To find out when and what kind of errors the services on a particular ArcGIS Server may have had in the time period.

Details about messages logged by a service in the time period.

To find out when and what kind of errors this service may have had in the time period.
